Having recently completed and successfully passed my NPQH with Best Practice Network, I am ready to take the next step in my career which I am hoping will be Headship or another Deputy Head position. Having studied for 18 months for the qualification, I have developed a secure knowledge of whole school leadership. This culminated in my final assessed task being graded 39/40 and a successful pass for the qualification. I am deeply passionate about teaching and management in education. Joining Passmores Academy in September 2018, following a decade in senior management at a variety of different schools, has been an excellent career decision. As Vice Principal (Deputy Head), my primary responsibility for the past two years has been to lead the Curriculum and Assessment across the school. Prior to this, I was responsible for Teaching and Learning. Throughout my career, I have considered myself an "all-rounder" in leadership and management, with skills and experience in areas including pastoral care and whole school strategy.At Passmores, I currently line manage the Mathematics and Science departments, the two largest in the school, along with Creative Media and other colleagues with middle management responsibilities. I have had a significant impact on curriculum design, pedagogy and lesson delivery and outcomes for each subject. I have also managed a variety of colleagues and departments throughout my career and pride myself on positive professional relationships.I am deeply committed to inclusion in education and supporting the most vulnerable members of society. I have completed "Inclusive Leadership Training" with The Difference organisation, aimed at implementing systems and practices to ensure students are not excluded from education.Since joining Passmores, I have had the privilege of collaborating with colleagues from established networks, including the KED/ICEE network and Whole Education. This experience has enabled me to implement significant changes in the departments I manage and in the overall school Teaching & Learning and Curriculum strategy. I strongly believe in leveraging the expertise of existing staff while modelling and incorporating best practices. At Passmores, I utilised the concept of Appreciative Inquiry to enhance classroom practice. I have led senior colleagues in conducting "Instructional Rounds" to further improve teaching across the school, which resulted in the development of Theories of Action and rubrics for all teachers.Outside of school, I am a proud dad, keen cyclist and collector of rare vinyl records.
